Read this essay:

Like telephone, television is a wonderful gift of science after the invention of electricity. Today, television is an important means of entertainment and education. It has the advantages of both radio and cinema. We can see pictures and listen to their conversations simultaneously.

 

Television was first invented by John Logic Baird, a famous scientist of Scotland. Mr. Baird demonstrated his invention at the Royal Institute of Great Britain in 1926.

 

Television is a medium of entertainment. We do not take trouble, of going outdoors to see a drama or a musical functions or a foot, ball or cricket match. We can see these things at our home on television screens. Many fare things are also telecast on TV screens. Speeches of V.I.Ps., important dialogues, sessions in Parliament, launching of rockets and space-crafts etc. are directly telecast. By watching them, we feel as if the entire world has become our next door neighbor.

Last summer, my friend and I had a plan. It was hot and the need for a cold, sugary treat was strong. Ice cream quickly became the goal, but not just any ice cream could meet our standards. The old tub of plain vanilla in the back of the freezer did not even deserve a thought. We wanted a special one from the ice cream van, yummy, yummy.

 

However, for not the first time, our youth proved to be an obstacle. Not having a job left our little wallets were quite empty. So we did what any children would do. Ask our parents for money. Her dad pointed us to the bowl of coins, and so we began to count. we took all the coins, we found out a bag for keeping them. we ran to the ice cream van. It was the nicer ice cream I have never eaten.

Para el examen oficial, tenemos que ir trabajando las cuatro destrezas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Desde casa se puede ayudar con el listening, cuando vayan a ver la televisión tanto sus dibujos como sus series que lo hagan en inglés. En las televisiones actuales es muy fácil cambiar el idioma a la versión original que normalmente es inglés y si la televisón no tiene TDT incorporado, en la TDT se debe poder cambiar también con facilidad. Es bueno que vayan reforzando el oído.
